Athletics Olympic champions Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Steven Gardiner announced at Paris meeting


Two Bahamian stars will do honor at the Paris meeting in the Diamond League. Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Steven Gardiner, both crowned in the 400m at the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of 2021, were announced in the capital for the first time on June 18 in a press release from the organizers.

Double Olympic champion in title and double vice-world champion of the lap, Miller-Uibo (28 years old) is the 6th performer of all time (48 sec 36). His compatriot Steven Gardiner (26), who rarely races in Europe, has been undefeated in his favorite distance since 2018.

On the French side, spectators will be able to find hurdlers Cyréna Samba-Mayela, world champion in the 60m hurdles in Belgrade this winter, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde or Wilhem Belocian, regulars at the Parisian meeting. But also the pole vaulters Renaud and Valentin Lavillenie, the discus thrower Mélina Robert-Michon, while Alexandra Tavernier and Quentin Bigot will inaugurate the first hammer throwing competition at the Charléty stadium. In the 800m, Gabriel Tual and Benjamin Robert will also be there.
