PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–A consortium led by Airbus and Capgemini, the telecommunications operators Orange and Bouygues Telecom, as well as the computer services group Atos have been selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Overseas Territories in the framework of contracts for the development of the Radio Network of the Future (RRF) in France.

“The Radio Network of the Future (RRF) is the state’s response to modernize the means of communication of security and relief actors,” the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

With the RFF, which represents an investment of more than 700 million euros, “France will acquire a very high-speed communication network (4G then 5G) common to all security and rescue players “, added the ministry, specifying that the RFF should be operational in 2024.

Aerospace and defense group Airbus and digital services specialist Capgemini said in a separate statement that the consortium they lead had been awarded a contract for RRF lot 2. This contract represents a total amount of 500 million euros, but the distribution between the various players concerned has not been specified.

In addition to its participation in the consortium led by Airbus and Capgemini, Atos has announced that the consortium it leads has been selected for lot 3 of the RRF as part of a 43 million euro contract for a period of seven years. “Atos and its partners will be responsible for the design and delivery of the network information and management system, a key portal that will interface with RRF users and RRF management,” the group said in its press release. .

Bouygues Telecom, a subsidiary of the Bouygues conglomerate, announced that it had been selected to provide the 4G then 5G broadband radio coverage service in mainland France and to develop new functionalities based on prioritization and preemption mechanisms for users. of the RRF. Bouygues Telecom has not disclosed the amount of this contract.

Orange Business Services has for its part been chosen to be the first operator connected to the future network, Orange said in a press release, without specifying the amount of the contract obtained from the State.
