Atos: Eviden quadruples the capacity of the Santos Dumont supercomputer

(Boursier.com) — Eviden, the business line ofAtos leader in advanced computing, has signed a new $19.4 million contract with the National Laboratory of Scientific Computing (LNCC) to expand the computing capacity of its “Santos Dumont” supercomputer .

Based on Eviden’s BullSequana Installed in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, and with an expanded capacity of 17 additional petaflops, the supercomputer will operate with a total processing capacity of approximately 18.85 quadrillion operations per second, an increase of approximately 575% over to its initial capacity of 1.1 petaflops in 2015.

Remember that the LNCC sought to modernize Santos Dumont, to meet the growing demand of the university community for computing, and to support cutting-edge research initiatives, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
