Atos separates from its Italian branch

As part of its asset disposal program, Atos announced on Thursday that it had entered into exclusive negotiations with the Italian supplier of IT services and solutions, Lutech, to separate from its Italian activities.

This announcement marks “a new step in the successful implementation of the Atos strategy” presented last June, says the French IT group in a press release. “This additional transaction will enable us to secure two-thirds of our €700 million disposal program, which is on track,” confirms Diane Galbe, senior executive vice-president of the Atos group.

However, this operation does not concern all of the group’s activities in Italy. Atos wants to keep the Italian activities of EuroHPC, as well as the operations of Unified Communications & Collaboration in the Boot. The scope of the subsidiary sold will represent nearly 2% of the group’s total revenue in 2021.

Atos Italia will remain a “key” partner of the group for global operations and EuroHPC contracts retained in the Atos portfolio.

The digital transformation champion loses his feathers

The transaction is expected in the first half of 2023, after the green light from the competent regulators.

In the midst of a stock market collapse, Atos resolved last June to announce a split project, by separating its growing activities in cybersecurity and big data from its outsourcing activities.

Atos’ highly profitable cybersecurity business is in the crosshairs. In early October, Atos’ board of directors rejected an offer to buy digital services company Onepoint over its cybersecurity and big data businesses. The press had already mentioned the interest of the defense electronics manufacturer Thales, the aeronautics giant Airbus and the telecom operator Orange for these activities.
