PARIS (Reuters) – IT consultancy firm Atos announced on Wednesday a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help customers migrate to cloud computing.
The agreement provides for Atos to choose AWS as its preferred enterprise cloud provider and for AWS to appoint Atos as a strategic partner for IT outsourcing and data center transformation.
This multi-year agreement, unprecedented in the sector according to Atos, will allow the French group’s customers with large-scale infrastructure outsourcing contracts to accelerate the migration of business flows to the cloud.
“This partnership represents a significant new step in the transformation of Atos,” said Nourdine Bihmane, co-director of Atos in charge of “Tech Foundations”, in a press release.
Struggling, Atos decided on a spin-off plan, which includes separating and combining its most lucrative assets such as the BDS (big data & security) cybersecurity division. The finalization of this plan is scheduled for the second half of 2023.
