Like the Norwegian Casper Ruud (ATP 7), Andrej Rublew (RUS/ATP 8) is already stuck in the round of 16 in Monte Carlo.

After Novak Djokovic (ATP 1), Félix Auger-Aliassime (9) and Cameron Norrie (10), another top ten player failed early in Monte Carlo. The Norwegian Casper Ruud (7) lost his round of 16 at the ATP 1000 clay tournament against the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (29) 3: 6, 5: 7. After an hour and a half and Dimitrov’s third match point, the game was over.

Tsitsipas with, Zverev without any trouble

Defending champion Tsitsipas prevailed in a hard-fought round of 16 game against Laslo Djere (62) 7: 5, 7: 6 (7: 1). The Serb revealed physical problems towards the end of the game. “He showed a great match,” acknowledged Tsitsipas, who now meets Diego Schwartzman (16).

Alexander Zverev (3) defeated the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta (19) in straight sets 6: 2, 7: 5, underlining his intentions to profit from Djokovic’s out. After a good hour and a half, the 24-year-old converted the 4th match point. In the quarterfinals he meets Jannik Sinner (12), who defeated Andrei Rublev (8) 5:7, 6:1, 6:3.
