Atsushi Inaba promoted to CEO of PlatinumGames

Kenichi Sato, who joined the video game industry at Sega in 1996 as part of the Dreamcast marketing team, will remain with PlatinumGames in a consulting role. Co-founder and general manager of Cavia in 2000, Kenichi Sato founded ODD in 2006, a company that will adopt the name PlatinumGames a year later after a merger with Atsushi Inaba’s SEEDS studio.

Atsushi Inaba, precisely, therefore now takes sole control of PlatinumGames as CEO and General Manager. Formerly at Capcom, which he joined in 1998, the 50-year-old producer is known for having worked on titles like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Steel Battalion and Viewtiful Joe. In 2004, he was appointed CEO of Clover Studio, a subsidiary of Capcom, and produced the brilliant Okami. He joined PlatinumGames in 2007 along with his faithful director, Hideki Kamiya.

In his introductory letter, Atsushi Inaba confirms that PlatinumGames still has ambitions in the self-publishing of its own games. An ambition achieved in the spring of 2020 with The Wonderful 101: Remastered waiting for Soil Cresta, but for now they are good Babylon’s Fall (Square Enix) and Bayonetta 3 (Nintendo) which will allow the Japanese studio to be talked about in 2022.
