The attack which left at least 84 dead in Iran has finally been claimed. While the Iranian government accused Israel, the attack was in reality orchestrated by the Islamic State. If Daesh has largely retreated in the region, the Islamist group’s attacks remain numerous in the Middle East.
Iran hit to the heart. On Wednesday, two suicide bombers blew themselves up, killing nearly 84 people on the sidelines of a ceremony in tribute to General Qassem Soleimani, known during his lifetime in particular for his fight against Daesh in Syria and Iraq. If Tehran had during the first hours accused Israel and Washington of being responsible for the disaster, the Islamic State finally claimed responsibility for the attack.
In parallel with the conflict between Hamas and Israel, the region lives with another threat, that of terrorism. “The theaters of activity of the Islamic State are always the same. Recurring attacks in the region
“The activity of the Islamic State on a global level is still ongoing. This is not the first time that they have attacked Iran in this way with suicide bombers. There are also recurring attacks in Afghanistan. It happens almost every week,” he continues.
