“We will be intractable against any form of violence”, and “we must protect the school from that”, insisted the Head of State during a visit to a school in Paris. Two teenagers, one in Montpellier, and the other in Viry-Châtillon in Essonne, were violently attacked in the space of 48 hours.

School “must remain a sanctuary” in the face of “a form of uninhibited violence among our adolescents”, Emmanuel Macron said on Friday, after two violent attacks on schoolchildren this week in Montpellier and the Paris suburbs. “We will be intractable against any form of violence”, and “we must protect the school from that”, insisted the Head of State during a visit to a school in Paris, expressing his “full support” and his “compassion” for Shamseddine, 15 years old, beaten up Thursday in Viry-Châtillon in Essonne and still hospitalized between life and death.

But “I don’t know if the school is linked to that” and “I don’t want us to make perhaps excessive shortcuts”, added Emmanuel Macron, stressing that the events took place “several hundred meters” from the teenager’s college and wishing “that justice can clarify things as quickly as possible”.

Three minors admitted to having “inflicted blows”

Caution already expressed the day before regarding another attack in Montpellier: that of Samara, 14, beaten Tuesday in front of her school by three teenagers, at least one of whom was educated in the same establishment.

Arrested, these three minors admitted “having struck” the victim and were on Friday “in the process of being presented to the public prosecutor’s office with a view to opening a judicial investigation for attempted intentional homicide”, according to the Montpellier prosecutor , who requested the detention of one of the suspects aged 15.
