Back to school is a source of concern for many parents. Indeed, in an uncertain pandemic context, many concerns and questions remain. On Facebook, a fake letter authorizes parents to ban forced screening in schools.

A lying rumor

A Facebook page shared a fake letter on Wednesday, August 26, authorizing parents to ban testing in schools. More specifically, it is an "exemption from the infirmary sheet" that parents must complete and send to schools so that their child "is not subjected to any covid test" or "any vaccine". This post elicited many reactions and has been shared over a thousand times on Facebook. Yet this is a textbook case of disinformation.

According to Franceinfo, the school nurses union SNICS-FSU clarified that: " the school is not a care establishment but a place of life ". However, the viral publication implies that children will be able to be screened for covid-19 or even be vaccinated within the school. To date, there is no vaccine against the coronavirus. In addition, before entering school, children must have completed a certain number of compulsory vaccines under French law conferring prerogatives on parents vis-à-vis their minor child. As for the school nurse, he is not allowed to perform a vaccine without first obtaining parental consent.

In addition, school nurses are subject to a strict protocol called the national protocol on the organization of care and emergencies in schools and local public educational establishments. Published in 2000, the latter stipulates that school nurses only have the right to administer drugs intended to relieve short-term ailments (paracetamol, physiological serum, mouthwash, etc.) or even administer emergency contraception to students. within a specific framework.

In the event that a student exhibits symptoms at school, they will be isolated with "a mask under supervision of an authority who will also wear a mask". He should then "get closer to his doctor before any return to class" according to the ministry.

Under the health protocol, the Ministry of National Education specifies that in the event of contamination of a child, the screening test is the responsibility of the parents, who will have an essential role to play.
