Attention, expensive! – Rust isn’t just an issue on old cars

Rust doesn’t have to be a problem
“A distinction must be made between corrosion damage, which has a direct impact on the function of an affected component, and rusting on individual holders and supports, also known as rust film, which essentially affects the optics,” says Oehler. Rusting quickly forms on parts made of low-alloy steel, such as clamps, clips and screws, as well as on cast parts, such as axle swingarms or engine mounts. “Classic corrosion damage, i.e. rusting through, occurs primarily on components that are permanently exposed to spray water, which may not be optimally drained there,” says Oehler.
