“Attractive salary” – Because of pay: advertisement angers officers

Advertisements in the Federal Army advertising new soldiers with “particularly attractive” salaries are currently causing a great deal of incomprehension among officers.

The debate about the unfair pay of career officers continues. Now, of all things, the Ministry of Defense itself is adding new fuel to the fire. In current advertisements, people are looking for new soldiers in troop newspapers, among other things, and describe the pay as “particularly good”. This is a slap in the face for the Interest Group of Career Officers (IGBO), after all, they have been campaigning for years – as reported – to that young lieutenants are paid “academically” after their studies and are not just treated the same as a high school graduate. IGBO President Siegfried Albel also holds Minister Klaudia Tanner herself responsible: “When she took office, she announced that she would ensure adequate remuneration and pass it on to the responsible person to approach the Ministry of Public Service. Now large sums of money are being invested to describe the unequal treatment that has been identified as ‘attractive’.”
