Au pair exploited? – “She portrays me as the very last”

The couple were stunned when they were informed they were being investigated for human trafficking. They would have lured their au pair from Madagascar with false promises and then exploited her. In view of the allegations, the accused Munich woman burst at the Vienna Regional Court.

She would have had to work at least twelve hours a day, taking care of the children almost entirely by herself, and for a pittance. At the Vienna Regional Court, the 27-year-old from Madagascar recounts the supposedly terrible conditions of her au pair job with a fairly wealthy family: “I said that I couldn’t work seven days a week. That was not agreed.” Holidays, clothing and the like for the au pair After her interrogation, the accused mother (32) bursts her collar: “I’m already really angry. She represents me like the very last!” Because, according to the Munich native and her husband, the relationship with the young woman looked very different. They would have paid her for housing, food, and even luxury vacations – and gave her pocket money on top of that. “Many girls would have been happy if they had been au pairs with this family,” said the couple’s defense attorney in view of the advantages that the 27th -year-old would have withdrawn from the position. All allegations are fictitious. The pregnant defendant also wants to make something clear at the end of the trial: “I seriously see that as an insult!” Because of the “strongly conflicting statements” the couple was not legally acquitted of human trafficking.
