Auchan strengthens in Spain by buying 235 supermarkets from DIA

PARIS, Aug 2 (Reuters) – The retail chain Auchan announced in a press release on Tuesday that it is strengthening its presence in Spain, with the acquisition by its Spanish subsidiary Alcampo of 235 supermarkets and a warehouse from the DIA group.

The transaction, the amount of which has not been specified, is subject to the approval of the competition authorities and to other validations “which should be obtained in the coming weeks”.

It will be carried out “successively by groups of supermarkets” and all the transfers should be completed before the summer of 2023, specifies the northern group, owned by the Mulliez family.
