The man could not be resuscitated because the municipal defibrillator was not working. It is unclear, however, whether the outcome would have been different with a working device.
A moment of celebration that turns into a nightmare. In Marseillette, in Aude, the drummer of a music group who was playing on the terrace of a café, died this Friday, November 4 following a heart attackwhile in full concert, reports The Independent. A drama that took place in front of forty people who came to watch the show.
As the local newspaper reports, witnesses at the scene quickly wanted to act to help the victim. Some thus contacted the emergency services, while others took turns to provide first aid. Finally, others rushed to get the defibrillator municipal, located 500 m from the cafe. Unfortunately this did not work. “As soon as I wanted to turn it on, there was no battery”told the owner of the establishment to our colleagues.
Victim had a history of heart disease
Arrived quickly on the spot, the emergency services tried to save the victim … in vain. The question now is whether the situation could have been different with a defibrillator in perfect working order? “I do not know“, replied the owner of the bar, before adding: “Firefighters told us he had a history of heart disease. We won’t know!”
Contacted by L’Indépendant, the mayor of Marseillette did not wish to react to this event. she simply stated that “the defibrillator battery had been changed”without specifying the date of this replacement.
