At Audi, we will replace the current R8 range in 2023, but the electric version will arrive a little later.
You will indeed have to wait until 2025 to be able to carefully park your new zero-emission Audi R8 in the garage.
The electric Audi R8 expected for 2025
As we know, Audi will carry out a complete restyling of its famous R8 next year, with a replacement that will probably use a biturbo hybrid V8 block. In order to underline its transition from thermal to electric, the sporty Audi should change its name.
Already well established in the electric segment with its e-tron range, Audi should offer a zero-emission version of this “new R8” in 2025. A model that could be developed from the SSP Sport platform or a platform soon to come from Porsche. According to Audi, it is quite possible to combine sportiness and electricity, the manufacturer recalling that on the side of the E-tron GT, no less than 60% of sales are RS versions.
Remember that in 2010 already, Audi presented its R8 e-tron Quattro Concept, a model powered by four electric motors, which subsequently gave birth to a small series of Audi R8 e-tron in 2015 (at a price then flirting with the million euros), which accumulates only a few hundred copies produced.
