After having declined its M50x studio headphones in Bluetooth version with the M50xBT then the M50xBT2, Audio-Technica is now moving to the wireless version of another of its emblematic headphones, the ATH-M20x. The Japanese firm has just presented its new Bluetooth headset, the Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT.

This headset takes on the appearance of the ATH-M20x, but obviously offers some innovations to allow it to work wirelessly. It is logically a closed helmet with a format circumaural whose pads surround the ear to provide passive insulation. The headphones also feature 40mm diameter transducers with neodymium magnets and copper-clad aluminum voice coils. In wired mode – since you can of course add the 1.2 meter cable provided – the Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT is capable of producing a frequency response of 5 to 32,000 Hz. AAC and SBC Bluetooth audio, wireless frequency response is limited to 20-20,000 Hz.

About Bluetooth, Audio-Technica offers a Bluetooth 5.0 controller ensuring a range of 10 meters. The Japanese manufacturer also incorporates a low latency mode for more comfort in video games. The headset is also compatible with multipoint Bluetooth and can therefore be used simultaneously connected to two devices such as a smartphone and a laptop. Note also the compatibility with Google Fast Pair.

Autonomy announced at 60 hours

If the Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT offers passive isolation thanks to its pads, it does not however offer an active noise reduction function.

Regarding the battery, Audio-Technica announces that it has integrated an accumulator allowing up to 60 hours of use in music playback. The headphones recharge using a supplied USB-A to USB-C cable in four hours, while ten minutes of charging recovers three hours of listening time. For comparison, the average is more around 30 hours with active noise reduction, or 40 to 50 hours without ANC. It must be said that Audio-Technica is no stranger to the concept of a Bluetooth device with excellent battery life. Recently, the firm launched its ATH-CKS50TW earphones with a battery life of 15 hours with the earphones alone, and up to 50 hours with the charging case.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT is already available for sale at a price of 89 euros, only in black.
