Audios and videos – festival archive included in the document heritage

The archive of the Salzburg Festival has been included in the Austrian documentary heritage of UNESCO.

A great honor for the Salzburg Festival: the Austrian UNESCO Commission has included the archive of recordings and recordings from more than 80 years of festival history in the national Austrian documentary heritage register. The archive includes more than 1000 sound and video recordings. This treasure has been unearthed since 2020 in cooperation with the Austrian media library of the Technisches Museum Wien, professionally digitized by the media library and permanently secured. Since 2014, the Commission has managed the national documentary heritage, which lists documents of outstanding importance for Austrian history. There are now 60 entries in the register.
