Waiting for the mixed reality headset designed by Apple, users can fall back on an alternative that is certainly less ambitious, but more affordable.

These new glasses imagined by Lenovo will work with many devices, including those of Apple.

A device more general public?

The American firm has been working for several months on its own mixed reality headset. According to the latest gossip, this model should not arrive before next year and its price is likely to be extremely high… So much so that the helmet in question could be reserved for a wealthy clientele or for companies. Fortunately, alternatives are on the horizon.

This fall, Lenovo announced its T1 augmented reality glasses. They will work with most computers, tablets and other smartphones. The iOS operating system is supported, which will allow it to be used on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Here, we are talking about a price of around 500 dollars… but we will obviously have to make some concessions on such an affordable product.

Slightly limited glasses

For starters, the Lenovo T1s have two Micro OLED screens (for each eye) with 1080p resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. Blue light and flicker reduction technologies are also included. The website Ars Technica was able to try them and specifies that the tiles are bright while displaying vibrant colors. Alas, a flagrant lack of ergonomics is also underlined…

This rudimentary comfort is explained by the fact that the Lenovo Glasses T1 do not have their own processor. All controls therefore go through the device to which they are necessarily connected via USB-C. Thus, these glasses offer above all an extension of the display for a computer or a smartphone. This object is intended to offer better immersion when watching a movie for example (with integrated speakers, all the same). Finally, an iPhone adapter will also be offered.

There is therefore no question of revolutionary AR glasses like those that Apple wants to release next year. These Lenovo Glasses T1 will arrive in China before the holidays and on “ selected markets » during 2023.
