Ausraster at Derby – football night ended in front of the judge

A freak out after the SCR Altach derby against Austria Lustenau cost a 27-year-old fan dearly.

The mood on that May 27th in Altach’s Cashpoint Arena was quite heated, as the home team was concerned with nothing less than staying up in the Bundesliga. The 8,000-plus spectators included the 27-year-old defendant, a die-hard Altach fan, and the later victim, a student from Lustenau and a self-confessed Austrian. Plenty of beer flows down the fans’ throats in the stands, and not just during the game. Even after the game, which ended 1-1 and saved Altach from relegation, things are still going well. In front of the gates of the Cashpoint Arena, the 27-year-old businessman from Vorarlberg initially provoked the student verbally. When he refuses to give him a fan article from Lustenauer Austria, the provocateur flinches completely and throws a plastic cup in the victim’s face. The student finally filed a complaint against the rabble-rouser. Fine of 9,000 euros. He appeared in court yesterday with his lawyer in tow. “It was a b’drunk story. A football match with a heated atmosphere. With a slight scratch on the chin, the consequences for the victim were not dramatic,” explains defense attorney Manuel Dietrich and asks for an out-of-court settlement. But the public prosecutor only reluctantly agrees. The reason: Zornpinkel had already benefited from a diversion a few years ago – also because of bodily harm. Judge Thomas Hofer then allowed the cup thrower to do it again and imposed a fine of 9,000 euros. “You should pull yourself together. As an entrepreneur, you also have to make sure that you don’t lose your license as a result of further criminal offences.”
