Australian Open: Spaniard Paula Badosa withdraws.

The Spaniard Paula Badosa, 11th in the world, announced on Saturday that she was withdrawing from the Australian Open, of which she had been designated seed N.11, because of a thigh injury suffered last week in the quarter-finals of the Adelaide 2 tournament.

“Bad news… I got injured during the quarter-final in Adelaide and according to the results (of the exams) I will be unavailable for a few weeks,” said the former world No.2, 25, on her twitter account.

Another package announced on Saturday, that of Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, 35th in the world, with a knee injury.

The Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament, had already recorded several brand withdrawals in recent weeks: Carlos Alcaraz, world No.1, and Marin Cilic (18th) for men, and Naomi Osaka, ex-N. 1 world who announced this week that she was pregnant, among women.
