Our neighboring country Austria has an annual record for new corona infections. 4261 cases were counted within 24 hours, as reported by the Ministry of Health and the Interior on Wednesday.
The last time the infections were at this level was the end of 2020. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants climbed to 280.
According to the information, 250 Covid patients are in intensive care units. For more than 500 intensive care patients, restrictions are provided for those who have not been vaccinated. From 600 onwards, the restrictions will be tightened.
Upper Austria hardest hit
The highest number of new infections is recorded again in Upper Austria – the federal state with the lowest vaccination rate.
The party “Human Freedom Fundamental Rights” (MFG) wants to use the pressure on the unvaccinated as an impetus for its own success. The vaccination-critical party will of course run in the National Council election, says a spokesman.
The election is planned for 2024. “People come to us in droves,” they say. The party, which was founded only a few months ago, recently entered the state parliament with six percent in the state elections in Upper Austria. (SDA / noo)
