The NGO Transport & Environment considers this challenge possible, if European funding follows.

The race is accelerating between China, the United States and Europe to produce electric vehicles, but also to secure materials and minerals for lithium batteries.

After having been struck by the American law IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) promulgated last summer which subsidizes the green industry “made in America”, in particular in the automobile field, Europe is preparing its legislative response. But how soon will its support measures and funding be operational? Are the projects planned in Europe by the global giants not likely, by then, to be relocated to the United States where the subsidies are attractive? The issue is crucial.
