Autonomy: top 10 of the most durable stick vacuum cleaners

Less bulky than their lighter sled cousins, stick vacuum cleaners are also much more agile thanks to the absence of an electrical cord, often too short, which gets tangled in the legs or feet of furniture. The other side of the coin is that they include a battery to provide the energy necessary for the engine to operate. And who says battery, also says limited autonomy.

Our testing protocol

To gauge the latter, we first recharge the devices to 100%. Then we plug in the vacuum head with its rotating brush, since it also consumes energy. Finally, we time the running time in normal mode and boost mode. If the suction results of these two modes are excellent, we can start a measurement in eco mode. Once entrusted to our algorithm, it results in an autonomy performance index out of 100.

Our tests harshly punish stick vacuum cleaners which run out of steam very quickly, and thanks to the extensive data we have collected, we have been able to put together a ranking of the ten most durable models which, in addition, provide excellent cleaning performance. suction: the first places are therefore not necessarily taken by the devices which suction the longest, but by those which last a long time, while still suctioning effectively. Place in the ranking!

At the time of writing these lines, the most enduring model in our comparison is none other than the Dreame R20, capable of vacuuming for almost an hour (59 min 20 s) in normal mode and 12 min 15 s in mode. boost: A record never equaled. Performs well on all types of surface and its maintenance does not pose any particular problem. It is therefore logical that it ranks first.

Even if the overall performance of Dyson vacuum cleaners is a little better than that of the R20, they are also less durable than the latter. This is why they monopolize second and third places. It should also be noted that both the V15 Detect and the Gen5 Detect can be used in Eco mode since the latter is quite effective for daily or even weekly cleaning. If this is not the case, in normal mode, it only lasts 42 minutes.

The best performance/price ratio seems to be the Karcher VC6 Our Family, which runs out of steam after 50 minutes of vacuuming in normal mode and which can easily be purchased for less than €250. We also note the good performance of Shark’s devices, which manages to place three devices (the Stratos IZ420EUT, the ICZ260EUT and the IZ201EUT) in our top 10.
