The tragic death happened in a family home in Deutschfeistritz. The 58-year-old’s son came into the family home at around 6:30 a.m. and immediately after entering he noticed the intense smell of burning. He immediately looked for his mother – and found her in the anteroom on the first floor. For the Styrian, however, any help came too late, she had died. The check revealed that a fire had broken out in the bedroom near the bed – and had already gone out – the assumption is that an unextinguished cigarette could have triggered it . According to the findings, the woman died as a result of this fire. There is no evidence of third-party negligence, and the public prosecutor ordered an autopsy to clarify the exact cause of death.
