Avatar 2: 1st photo of the big bad back in Na’vi

Empire magazine has just unveiled the first photo of the big bad Quaritch (Stephen Lang) in Na’vi in ”Avatar: The way of the water”.

Killed by Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) in the first part released in 2009, Miles Quaritch, the big bad of the first opus played by Stephen Lang, is back in Avatar 2… In Na’vi!

If fans had already spotted the actor in the trailer, the magazine Empire has just unveiled a first photo of the character.

In Avatar: The Way of the Water, Stephen Lang resumes his role but changes body, unlike Sigourney Weaver who embodies another character. Indeed, the actress who played the human leader of the Avatar program of the RDA (Resources Development Administration), now interprets Kiri, a Na’vi teenager adopted daughter of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri.

Avatar 2: dead in the first film, Sigourney Weaver plays a teenager in the sequel!

In an interview with EmpireStephen Lang explains: “Quaritch is taller, bluer, and still pissed off. But he will show more humility. When you take two arrows from a Na’vi to the chest, it has some effect on you.”

In 2013, James Cameron said: “Stephen Lang was excellent in the first movie, it’s a privilege to see him back. I won’t say how we plan to bring it back, but after all, it’s science fiction. His character will evolve in unexpected ways during this new trilogy.e”.

In this sequel, still directed by James Cameron, the GDR has Recoms, also called Recombinants: avatars imbued with the memory of human soldiers. This is what makes possible the return of the vicious soldier in this sequel.

His spirit was put into the body of a recombinant. Lang adds:He was always a character who moved in a straight line. But now he’s as nimble as any Na’vi.” So potentially more dangerous…

But the arrival of the Recoms is just the beginning. Producer Jon Landau explains to the magazine: “The members of the RDA return with a veritable armada to take back the precious property they have lost“.

They have built a new city, Bridgehead, and are exploiting the resources of Pandora’s oceans. They also have a 3D printing facility which allows them to be even better equipped. The war for Pandora has only just begun!

Worn by Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis, Avatar: The Waterway will be released in theaters on December 14.
