Avatar 2, stronger than Star Wars: James Cameron’s film becomes the 4th biggest hit of all time!

With a score of $2.075 billion at the worldwide box office, the second installment of Avatar has just overtaken “Star Wars – The Force Awakens” and thus becomes the fourth biggest hit of all time.

Released in our theaters on December 14, Avatar: The Way of the Water, the second installment of the famous franchise signed James Cameron, continues to gain places in the world box office rankings. While he had already entered the Top 5 of all time on Friday, he now has a total of 2.075 billion dollars.

A colossal score which therefore allows him to exceed The Force Awakens, episode VII of the famous Star Wars saga directed by JJ Abrams in 2015, and thus to become the fourth greatest success in history.

While James Cameron has already accumulated three films in the Top 5 – namely Avatar, the first of the name, Titanic and now Avatar: the way of the water – will this last feature film manage to continue its ascent?

To hope to overtake Titanic, it will in any case have to register more than 100 million additional.

The greatest success of the post-COVID era, La Voie de l’eau is also the No. 1 box office of the year 2022 in France, where it has gathered more than 12 million spectators.

The next three parts of the Avatar saga, respectively expected in cinemas for December 2024, 2026 and 2028, will they manage to do as well?

While waiting to find out, (re)discover our interview with James Cameron…
