While James Cameron’s “Avatar” films have nothing to do with the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series, elements also play an important role in James Cameron’s sequels. While the Omatikaya are believed to live in the forests of Pandora and thus represent the earth, Avatar: The Way of Water introduced the Metkayina, who are closely associated with water.

When asked by the French magazine 20 Minutes what we can expect from the next “Avatar” sequels, James Cameron not only announced new universes, but also new fire Na’vi.
You can expect different cultures than what I have already shown. Fire is represented by the “Ash People”. I want to show the Na’vi from a different angle because at the moment I’ve only shown their good sides. In the early films there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3 we do the opposite.
We will also explore new universes while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before the food is served.

It remains to be seen whether the fire Na’vi will have a reddish coloration or whether they will look more gray, which one might assume from the name “Ash People”. In any case, the plan to introduce evil Na’vi sounds promising, which should bring new tension to the dynamic between the characters.
It won’t be clear until 2024 at the earliest, when “Avatar 3” hits the cinemas, whether all the Na’vi tribes will finally join forces to go into battle against the humans. However, perhaps it is the mysterious “Ash People” who pose the greatest threat to Pandora.
