Avatar 3: James Cameron’s next film changes title

There’s something new on Pandora. Avatar: The Seed Bearer (“The Seed Bearer” in VF), considered for several years as the unofficial title ofAvatar 3will ultimately not be the name of the third opus in the James Cameron saga.

Producer Jon Landau shuts down rumors

Interviewed by our colleagues at ComicBook on the occasion of the release of the video game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandoraproducer Jon Landau (Titanic), Cameron’s long-time collaborator, was categorical:

“I am well placed to tell you that this is not the title of Avatar 3”did he declare. “Is that what my Wikipedia page says? It’s changed as of tonight!”.

The rumors around The Seed Bearer as the official name ofAvatar 3 date from November 2018. The BBC revealed at the time that the titles of the sequels were going to be Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider And Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.

If the British media hit the mark for Avatar 2, the rest of the titles had not yet been made official. Interviewed on the issue in 2019, James Cameron even commented: “I can neither confirm nor deny (…) here is what I will tell you: these titles are among those taken into consideration. And no final decision has yet been taken”.

We will therefore have to wait a little longer to know the official title ofAvatar 3expected in theaters in December 2025. The director recently stated that the film was currently in an intense phase and “hectic” post-production.

As a reminder, Disney shook up its release schedule last June, and pushed back the films in the saga for several years. Avatar 3 is now released in cinemas on December 17, 2025, Avatar 4 is expected on December 19, 2029, and Avatar 5 not before December 17, 2031.
