Avatar: after episode 5, “there is an infinite possibility of stories!”

“There is an infinite possibility of stories!” What if the Avatar franchise went beyond the planned 5 episodes? Producer Jon Landau isn’t closing the door on more sequels.

But where will Avatar stop? Just under 100 days from the event release of Avatar 2: The Way of the Water, its producer Jon Landau has indicated that the sequels could continue beyond episode 5.

At the microphone of varietyhe says more about the franchise: “As I speak to you, there are four other films planned. The 2, 3, 4 and 5. The scenarios are ready for the 2, the 3, and part of the 4. So we are ready!“, he indicates. “It’s crazy, but it’s a huge challenge. (…) “Let’s do 3, 4 and 5 first, and then the ideas are there. We have story ideas“.

And to add:You know, Pandora is a metaphor for our world, so we can tell an unlimited number of stories..”

This weekend, during the D23, dedicated to the announcement of upcoming Disney projects, Jon Landau also said that the filming of episode 4 had just started. A news which therefore confirms that the second and third films were indeed shot at the same time.

Avatar 3, named in English Avatar: The Seed Bearer, is already announced for December 18, 2024. And for the 4, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider, it will be necessary to wait two years, on December 16, 2026.

100 days before Avatar 2: everything we know about James Cameron’s event sequel

Currently on the scene of the shooting, in New Zealand, James Cameron spoke by camera interposed to the public of the D23. Members of the team were, for their part, very present this weekend, such as Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, the producer Jon Landau or even Sigourney Weaver.

For the record, the plot of Avatar: the way of the water, episode 2, will take place ten years after the events told in the original feature film. Jake Sully and Neytiri have become parents. Their idyllic life, close to nature, is threatened when the Resources Development Administration, a dangerous non-governmental organization, returns to Pandora.

Forced to leave their natural habitat, Jake and his family travel to the reefs, where they believe they will find asylum. But they come across a clan, the Metkayina, with customs different from theirs. Specifically, Jake and Neytiri are parents to three boys: Neteyam, Lo’ak and Spider, and a girl, Tuktirey. Three of these children are Na’vi, with blue skin, but Spider has the appearance of a human, therefore of a different origin than his parents.

See you in French cinemas on December 14, 2022 for the second opus of the franchise which is far from having said its last word!
