Avatar Frontiers of Pandora: Ubisoft unveils the first images and a release date

The publisher Ubisoft held a rather generous conference yesterday on its line-up of upcoming titles, including the game based on the Avatar universe, and a good piece devoted to its very attractive game Star Wars in Open World, “Star Wars: Outlaws”.

In his Ubisoft Forward which was held yesterday in Los Angeles, the publisher pulled out all the stops by unveiling a solid line-up of upcoming titles, some of which are highly anticipated.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Announced in 2017 and developed by Massive Entertainment studio, the game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, based on the license created by James Cameron, first unveiled at the E3 show in 2021; although it was a cutscene. Postponed, the title now aims for a release date of December 7.

In this open world, the story takes place in 2138, before the universe of the first film released in 2009. Taking place on the side of the western border, in an unexplored part of Pandora, Na’vis children are kidnapped by the RDA in order to train them, hoping that these children will one day turn against their clan.

Following a battle, the player character is urgently plunged by the RDA into a cryogenic sleep, which will last 15 years. Upon awakening, disoriented, the character must reconnect with his clan, and also face the GDR again, back and fiercer than ever.

Developed in partnership with LightstormJames Cameron’s production company, the game, designed with an FPS view and whose campaign can also be played in two-person cooperation, is really very beautiful.

star wars outlaws

Two days ago, Ubisoft unveiled the first images of its Star Wars-based Open World game; very first game based on the franchise developed outside the publisher Electronic Arts, which had purchased from Disney the exploitation rights for the license on the video game side for a period of ten years.

Check out the cinematic trailer…

But the publisher logically kept the biggest piece for its own conference, this time with a 10-minute gameplay sequence.

Here it is, below…

Developed by Massive Entertainment and the support of eight in-house studios (!!!) on a new version of its game engine Snowdrop who has it under the hood, star wars outlaws will invite players to discover a Star Wars universe whose events will take place between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

As the Empire relentlessly pursues its goal of annihilating the Rebel Alliance, the criminal underworld continues to grow. Players will take on the role of a character named Kay Vess, played by Humberly González, and her faithful companion, Nix, played by Dee Bradley Baker. The two characters will thus travel through the galaxy and discover many places both emblematic and new, from the humid jungles of Akiva to the windswept savannah of Toshara.

Between exploration, piloting the heroine’s ship, the Trailblazer, during aerial combat, and infiltration phases, the title seems to be more eyeing gameplay of the same type as that of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, rather than that, become damn redundant and problematic, from the Far Cry license. Anyway, he’s damn envious. It should tumble into the shelves in early 2024, unless there is a possible postponement…

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage, developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, is designed as a return to basics. It features the character of Basim Ibn Ishaq, discovered in the last video game part of the saga, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. The game, expected for October 12, will send gamers back to 9th century Baghdad. In the year of grace 861, more precisely.

Two new trailers were unveiled during the conference. One that concerns the narrative that will be developed in the game.

The other, of almost 8 min, offering an overview of the gameplay.

A return to basics, then, after past wanderings and much too big Open Worlds. The exhaustion also of a recipe that ended up being completely rinsed out. We do not forget in passing the big salvo that the publisher is preparing for its favorite license, which we talked about in September 2022.
