“Avatar” is now part of Disney, but James Cameron’s blockbuster can no longer be streamed on Disney+. Netzwelt reveals when you can return to Pandora.

  • Pandora has to wait: Disney + has removed “Avatar” from the streaming offer.
  • The forthcoming cinema re-release is believed to be the reason for the disappearance.
  • In December, “Avatar” should return to Disney + in new splendor.

“Avatar: Descending to Pandora” is no longer in the Disney+ programming. James Cameron’s mega blockbuster was actually always in the streaming service’s program – even if only in HD and in the cinema version. The disappearance of the film came as a surprise, all of a sudden “Avatar” could no longer be streamed worldwide.

However, the reason for this should be obvious. On September 23, 2022, Disney will bring the first “Avatar” film back to cinemas. There will be no new material to be seen, but the image of the film has been revised again and now a new generation should have the opportunity to experience “Avatar” on the big screen.

Fearing that no one would attend the revival if “Avatar” was simply available on Disney+, you’ve now been denied that streaming opportunity. Possibly, and this is the biggest selling point, “Avatar” will return to Disney+ in December, right before the launch of “Avatar 2: The Way of Water” – and then directly in the polished 4K version.

Nevertheless, “Avatar” is not completely out of the world, you can still rent or buy the film on Amazon Prime Video, for example.
