Avidsen HomeSmoke: a connected smoke detector to be alerted even outside the home

Although their presence has been mandatory in French homes for several years, smoke detectors are usually simple devices that trigger a powerful audible alarm in the presence of smoke. But as connected objects, they can do much more.

The French company Avidsen has just announced the arrival of its new model. The HomeSmoke, that’s its name, has a rather classic appearance and dimensions (120 mm in diameter) to remain as discreet as possible once installed on the ceiling of houses and apartments, or even in a mobile home. It is powered by two AA batteries.

Its originality lies in its wifi connection. Thanks to it, he can communicate with the AvidsenHome application and warn the user of the presence of smoke. In addition to the announced siren of 90 decibels, the application triggers a notification which will be useful if no one is present on the premises during the alert.

The HomeSmoke can also work in conjunction with the brand’s other connected objects. Connected cameras can in particular help to remove doubt and identify false alerts. It is also possible to configure the Avidsen bulbs so that they light up or flash and thus form a visual signal, for people who are hard of hearing for example.

The new Avidsen HomeSmoke smoke detector is already on sale on the brand’s website and at online retailers, at the recommended retail price of €49.90. It is delivered with its two LR06 AA batteries and the screws necessary for its installation.
