AVM FritzRepeater 3000 AX: New WiFi repeater in the works
Two top models lead the current repeater fleet from AVM: the FritzRepeater 6000 and the FritzRepeater 3000. While the 6000 dominates Wifi 6 (WLAN-ax), the slightly older 3000 does not need the new WLAN standard. What both models have in common, however, is that they each have three WLAN radio units and can therefore quickly supply many devices with data at the same time. Apparently, another WiFi repeater with three radio units will soon be added: AVM is apparently working on a FritzRepeater 3000 AX.

The nd editor Daniel Lücking has at Twitter to an interesting document that is on an AVM server. This is the EU declaration of conformity for a FritzRepeater 3000 AX. In such a declaration, manufacturers must confirm to the responsible EU authorities that a device complies with all necessary directives and laws. AVM already gave the statement on January 19, 2022 – so it is quite possible that the FritzRepeater 3000 AX will see the light of day shortly.
Wifi 6 and still worse?
Technical details of the FritzRepeater 3000 AX are not yet known. However, the model name raises some questions. The addition “AX” makes it unmistakably clear that the new repeater also has Wifi 6 on the box. The number 3000 may represent the device’s theoretical WiFi speed in megabits per second. This would make the FritzRepeater 3000 AX a worse choice than the “normal” 3000 for households in which there are mainly devices without Wifi 6. Because with Wifi 6 far fewer antennas are needed to achieve a high speed – which means that the older ones Wifi 5 (WLAN-ac) and Wifi 4 (WLAN-n) standards would have less performance because they use the same antennas. At the moment we can only speculate – we will probably find out in the not too distant future how much power the 3000 AX really has.
