AVOD and the FAST channels, stars of MIPCOM 2022


According to RX France, MIPCOM 2022 is the unmissable event for the entire profession, qualified as “mother of all entertainment content markets”. Among the main market players, there will be the essential Samsung TV Plus, but also all the companies that have specialized in the design and distribution of these programs financed by advertising, including: Amagi, Ottera, Wurl, SoFAST . On the publisher side, there will be Pluto TV, Roku, Amazon Freevee, Lionsgate, among others. Not to mention CTV and OTT distributors such as Netgem TV which has just announced the distribution of 90 FAST channels on Talk Talk in the United Kingdom.

This market focus is explained by the fact that AVOD and the FAST channels are experiencing rapid development in the United States and the United Kingdom and should conquer the rest of Europe very quickly. According to data from Ampere Analysis, AVoD and FAST have yet to gain favor with European viewers (the five largest European markets have seen it rise from 0% in Q3 2019 to 4% in Q3 2021, while in the United States it has skyrocketed from 14% to 34% over the same period).
