A strike at German airports is currently paralyzing air traffic. If you don’t want to travel longer distances in your own car, you have to use Deutsche Bahn. However, short-term bookings are usually not exactly cheap here. An alternative to Deutsche Bahn is traveling with the long-distance bus “Flixbus” and the associated train “Flixtrain”.

If you switch to the bus or the Flixtrain, you can not only save your travel plans, but also save money thanks to some promotions. The prerequisite for this is a mobile phone contract with Vodafone. With this you can take part in the “Vodafone Happy” advantage program. Registration takes place via the MeinVodafone app. You can currently get a 25 percent voucher for Flixtrain tickets here. However, this can only be redeemed via the app and is valid until March 13, 2024.

Students without a Vodafone contract can save an 11 percent discount on Flixbus tickets via Unidays, and there is a 10 percent discount for ADAC members.

By the way, it’s not just airports that are currently on strike; local transport is also threatened with further restrictions on February 2nd.
