For those who prefer to celebrate comfortably and relaxed, even small festivals offer enough variety. Here are nine tips.

Those who value a relaxed and family atmosphere at festivals will tend to stay away from the big events like Rock im Park or Southside. There are enough cozy and small festivals where music fans also get their money’s worth. With these nine insider tips you can avoid the big crowds:

Outdoor Festival

The Freiland Festival not only has music to offer, but also inspires with special performances, installations, film, theater and readings. From June 3rd to 6th, fans will be celebrating in the Kieskuhle Broock in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Maifeld Derby

A total of 67 artists from all over the world will perform at the Maifeld Derby in Mannheim. Punk, rap, hits – there is something for every music fan. Around 5,000 fans are expected at the Maimarktgelände in Mannheim from June 9th to 12th. The organizer promises the “best and most varied” line-up of all time.

Sea Rush Festival

Those who love the sea will look forward to the sea noise festival. The event celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2022. The beauty of art meets the diversity of music at the festival. On the island of Usedom on the Baltic Sea, the Meeresrausch invites you to relax and enjoy breathtaking sunsets from June 9th to 12th.

Summertime Festival

The Summertime Festival invites you to the tranquil town of Wolfenbüttel in Lower Saxony and has something for every taste in music. If you like it family and cozy, you will get your money’s worth in the Seeliger Park under the old trees. The festival takes place on July 1st and 2nd.

Watt and mud

Not much is known about the Watt en Schlick Festival this year. It will take place from July 29th to 31st in Varel, Lower Saxony, on the North Sea. Last year there was an urban culture mix on four different stages. At the end of the festival, the German championship in mud sliding is traditionally held.

Sound of the Forest

The Sound of the Forest will take place in 2022 from August 4th to 8th. The sustainable festival presents indie artists and newcomers at the Marbachstausee in the Hessian Odenwald and expects around 5,000 fans.

City, Country, Bass

From August 5th to 7th, the festival Stand, Land, Bass will take place in Frankfurt am Main directly on the river. Fans of electronic music get beats on two floors.

Park festival

The Zuparken Festival makes the hearts of surf and Bulli fans beat faster. From September 15th to 18th, the event offers various workshops from surfing to yoga, camping in the countryside and lots of music right on the Baltic Sea beach. The festival takes place at Kägsdorfer Strand near Rostock.

Cat Jump Festival

This year, the Katzensprung Festival will not only be held on one date, but spread over eight weekends throughout the summer. Only 350 visitors are admitted to each of these small festivals. There will be music, workshops and room for development. The festival weekends take place between June and September in an old factory in the Eifel, just under an hour from Cologne.
