The Uri canton police announced that the surveillance system at the operations center had triggered a technical alarm at around 1 a.m. Axenstrasse was then closed. The police stopped the traffic and turned away vehicles.
People were not injured, and according to previous knowledge, the road infrastructure was not damaged. Specialists are currently investigating the situation on site. The police will immediately inform about new findings.
Blocked until further notice
For safety reasons, Axenstrasse will remain closed to traffic between the Flüelen roundabout and the Wolfsprung junction until further notice.
The access to Sisikon and Riemenstalden is secured from the north. From the south you can drive to the Tellsplatte via Flüelen. It is recommended to observe the signs and to bypass the closed Axenstrasse over a large area via the Seelisberg tunnel and Lucerne. (SDA)
