Babylon Berlin: What do you know about the fourth season so far?

The third season of the hit series "Babylon Berlin" leaves some questions unanswered. When does it continue? This is known about the fourth season.

Is that about the award-winning German series? The finale of the third season of "Babylon Berlin" was broadcast on German free TV on October 22nd. Now it's time to wait again. A fourth season has not yet been officially confirmed. But the directors Tom Tykwer (55), Achim von Borries (51) and Hendrik Handloegten (52) recently said in interviews according to media reports that the first versions of twelve new scripts are ready. The plan is for filming to begin in spring 2021. In addition, the series makes a time jump in season four.

The novel "Goldstein" by author Volker Kutscher (57), which follows the second book "Der stumme Tod", was based on the third season, is set in Berlin around 1931. The economic crisis intensifies and the underworld rages on Power struggle and the city is on the way to fascism. These elements were already hinted at in the third season of the series. The seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933 is approaching in "Babylon Berlin" …

Warning, the following passages contain massive spoilers from season three of "Babylon Berlin".

Dark climax and view

For example, Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch, 40) already holds the book "Mein Kampf" in his hand, which his nephew brought home. Moritz is already in the wake of the Hitler Youth. Gottfried Wendt (Benno Fürmann, 48), however, is pulling the strings as a dodgy power man and wants to pave the way for a national government. He also walks over corpses. Wendt will not be appointed the new police chief – as he himself assumed – but he will probably not give up because of that.

Particularly tragic: Charlotte (Liv Lisa Fries, 29) has to watch as her friend Greta (Leonie Benesch, 29) is executed. Despite a court order, her death could not be prevented. Wendt's plan thus worked: Greta lost her life as the sole culprit in the bomb attack on August Benda (Matthias Brandt, 59) and the real masterminds behind it were not exposed. Can Rath Wendt's confession about his atrocities, which he was even able to record, still be used against him?

The third season ends as it began: with the stock market crash. Gereon first sees his ex Helga Rath (Hannah Herzsprung, 39), once the wife of his brother Anno (Jens Harzer, 48), together with Alfred Nyssen (Lars Eidinger, 44), their new partner, on the Berlin stock exchange. When leaving the building he is almost trampled to death as an angry crowd storms the stock exchange. On the street, the inspector finally sees in a shaft how a snake-like monster moves through the sewer system.

In the voiceover Anno says among other things: "We create the new human. We create the human machine. An Android freed from pain and fear." "Synthetic substances" are supposed to help, which "make the destroyed soul numb and thus free it from pain and fear". A gloomy outlook …
