Born in Brazil, the Surra de Bunda consists, as we can see in the sequence, of slapping a man with his buttocks to the rhythm of the music. With a name that literally means “beat with his buttocks“, “pounding with buttocks“or even more precisely”punishment from behind“, this choreography is truly intended to punish men and was popularized by the group As Tequileiras do Funk in 2010.
During their concerts, members of the public are invited on stage and placed on the floor. Dancers then come to perform a lap dance before kneeling in front of them, their buttocks turned towards their face and their ankles on their shoulders. This is followed by a frantic banging session which, depending on the strength of the dancer, can leave the young men in a trance or even cause slight concussions. In an interview for MlactuPhilippe Lacheau rightly returned to the choice of this scene and its painful shooting.
“We were looking for a striptease scene to humiliate the character I play in the film. […] We found it very original and, for once, very humiliating. And contrary to popular belief, it’s not pleasant at all“, he reveals. Because indeed, the filming of the sequence required 24 rather violent takes. A hard moment to pass for a hilarious result and an already cult scene.
