It’s finally clear when we’re going back to Westeros. The US streaming service HBO Max announced today that the “Game of Thrones” sequel series “House of the Dragon” will start on August 21, 2022. The 10 episodes from season 1 will then appear on HBO Max at weekly intervals, as is usual with the parent series “Game of Thrones”.
In Germany, Sky will broadcast. On the night of August 22nd, the premiere episode will be available on Sky Ticket and Sky Q. On August 22 at 8:15 p.m., the series premiere will then run linearly on Sky Atlantic – everything like “Game of Thrones” times!
With today’s announcement of the start date, fantasy fans finally know what their summer looks like. Less than 2 weeks after “House of the Dragon”, the no less eagerly awaited series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” starts on Amazon Prime Video!
That’s what “House of the Dragon” is about
“House of the Dragon” tells a prequel to the epic fantasy series “Game of Thrones”. Around 200 years before the events shown in GoT, Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors fought a bloody civil war over the Iron Throne. The Targaryens own a lot of dragons in this era, which will also compete against each other.
The prequel series is based on the book Fire and Blood: Book One: The Rise and Fall of House Targaryen of Westeros by Game of Thrones mastermind George RR Martin. Martin himself also acts as series creator alongside Ryan J. Condal (“Colony”).
