Last shown at the Xbox Games Showcase, the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake was the subject of an alleged release date leak, which has since been refuted.
During its appearance as part of Summer Game Fest 2024, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake did not even announce a release window. To coincide with pre-orders for the game launched on Monday, GameStop put forward an incorrect release date and had to quickly backpedal.
Since Monday, fans can pre-order Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, in a basic version or in a collector’s version for $199.99, currently unavailable in Europe. To ride on this announcement by the indescribable David Hayer, original voice of Snake, GameStop posted a post on X.com indicating the release date. Now deleted, the post stated: “ Get ready to slay in the Snake Eater Remake. Where stealth and survival meet savagery! Scheduled for release on November 17, 2024. Pre-order now “.
However, this was a terrible mistake, as Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake does not currently have a date or even a definitive release window. GameStop therefore had to quickly backpedal by deleting its publication and replacing it with another aimed at clarifying the situation: “ Our previous pre-order post included an incorrect release date. More information on this one will come from Konami “.
For the record, the original game was released on November 17, 2004. Perhaps this is where the confusion and error made by the person in charge of writing the GameStop publication comes from. By consulting the calendar, however, we realize that November 17 of this year falls on a Sunday. Which unfortunately doesn’t fit with video game outings, generally scheduled for a Tuesday or Friday. Big Boss will therefore have to wait wisely in the jungle for Konami to call him back to his duty in this Remake under Unreal Engine 5 which looks promising, expected at a still undetermined date on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
