Bad idea ! He should never have crossed the fence of a lion’s enclosure

On August 29, a man of as yet unknown motives decided to venture into a lion’s enclosure at a zoo. What happens next is unfortunately predictable…

A strange decision. On Monday, August 29, a man visiting the zoo in Accra, the capital of Ghana, surprised all the other visitors to the zoo by deciding… to jump over the fence of a lion’s enclosure and go straight to his space. The government agency in charge of the protection of wild animals announced that the man, by entering the feline enclosure, was then fatally attacked by a lion. According to the AFP report, the Ghana Forestry Commission then spoke in a press release.

According to their words, “Around noon today [lundi 29 août]Accra Zoo authorities on routine patrol spotted a middle-aged man who jumped over the security fence and entered the lion enclosure.”. An entire family was in the enclosure, made up of a lion, a lioness and their two lion cubs. While he was in the company of the felines, the man, whose name and age were not specified, “was attacked and injured by one of the lions” reports the Commission. The bizarre story unfortunately ended badly.

The man died of his injuries

Also according to the Ghana Forestry Commission, the man “was confirmed dead from his injuries and his body was sent to the morgue“. After this incident, zoo officials called on the police to open an investigation to determine what prompted the visitor to voluntarily go to the carnivorous feline enclosure. Crisis of madness, suicidal desire or misplaced curiosity, the man is thus added to the list of lions’ victims. According to Futura Sciences, “the lion and the tiger would be responsible for 40 to 200 deadly attacks per year“. The magazine also specifies that it is not in the nature of the lion to attack the man except in the case where the latter would encroach on its territory…
