bad news for many withdrawals

Some withdrawals, who had been informed of an increase in their pension, will ultimately have to repay the overpayment due to a computer error.

A regrettable mistake, and good news that is gone. This summer, many withdrawals received an email informing them of an increase in their small pension, of a maximum amount of 100 euros gross. The first payments took place this Monday, October 9, for people who retired between April 2009 and December 2022 and who are currently receiving the increased minimum contributory amount. However, according to information from RTL, some withdrawals will have to repay an overpayment on their pension. And this, even though an email had informed them that their small pensions were going to increase…

Errors in the amount of pensions transmitted

According to RTL, this error mainly concerns retirees who worked both in the private sector and in the public service. The state pension services incorrectly transmitted the amount of the insured’s pensions. According to the management of the CNAV, the precise number of cases potentially affected is not known but it is very limited compared to the 600,000 exceptional increases paid.

For its part, the CFDT-Retraits also reports reports of withdrawals having received letters informing them of a revaluation even though they do not have the right to do so, the image of this former worker in the public service, yet well above the ceiling to claim this revaluation.

Minimum pension: will you receive up to 100 euros more on your pension from October 9?

A second wave of increases in small pensions is planned for the summer of 2024 at the latest and should concern nearly a million people, having retired before 2009. But Again, errors could occur. Indeed, according to the CFDT delegates of the CNAV, the computer software is not completely ready. Unfortunately for the withdrawals concerned, they will have to reimburse the amount wrongly perceived. An email will be sent to them shortly to notify them of this regularization.

Exceptional increase, what are the conditions for receiving it?

Benefiting from the minimum pension, or more precisely minimum contributory pension (MiCo), is not enough. This exceptional increase only targets beneficiaries of the increased minimum contribution. At the end of 2022, no less than 4.7 million withdrawals will receive the minimum contribution. But only 1.7 million of them, already beneficiaries of the MiCo major, will receive the exceptional increase.
