bad news for millions of French households

Originally expected at the end of March, the sending of energy checks should only start several weeks later. The average amount of the energy check is 149 euros.

To get your energy check, you will have to wait a little longer. While nearly 6 million French people were to start receiving it from the end of March, the sending of this aid was postponed.

From Capital, the Minister for Energy Transition announced that the first energy checks could be issued a few weeks later due to an exceptional workload. Faced with the proliferation of aid put in place in recent months by the government (fuel check, wood check, exceptional energy check, etc.), the Services and Payment Agency, responsible for distributing these checks, is therefore forced to postpone the shipment. It will probably be necessary to wait until May to be able to claim it, even if the precise dates of shipment will be communicated later.

149 euros on average in 2022

As a reminder, the amount of the energy check varies from 48,277 euros. This aid uses the reference tax income (RFR) weighted by the number of people in the household in consumption units (CU) to determine the beneficiaries. In 2022, for example, to receive the energy check, the reference tax income for a single person had to be 10,800 euros to qualify for the energy check. Since 2021, residents of nursing homes can also benefit from the energy check. In 2022, nearly 5.8million households were eligible by ordinary energy check, for an average amount of around 149 euros.
