What’s more concerning is that some have noticed the official trailer being privatized on YouTube, raising questions about a possible cancellation. Also note that Embracer Group has recently gone through financially tumultuous times. This situation led to studio closures, project cancellations and layoffs. Rumors even suggest that the group could sell Gearbox, the studio behind the renowned Borderlands series.
The silence of Embracer Group on the project only accentuates fears. In May, during an investor call, Lars Wingefors, the CEO of Embracer Group, sidestepped any discussion about the remake’s progress. Additionally, industry expert Jeff Grubb previously suggested that the game might never see the light of day…
So, at this time, the future of the highly anticipated remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remains uncertain. The game is currently in development for PC and PS5, but it might be wise to prepare for the worst.
It’s all the more a shame when we know the wait for this one and the undeniable success that such a remake could have. This would be one of the first Star Wars game remakes, and it was an ideal candidate.
