Bad odors from the trash, how to eliminate them: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

1) Thoroughly clean your trash

Empty it completely, if it is a removable container in another container, it will be necessary to clean everything including the lid and the rim. Wear rubber gloves and wash all surfaces with warm water and black soap. If it is really dirty, wash it with hot water and soda. This operation is to be renewed regularly, at least once a month, but if you put in place good habits, cleaning will be done in no time!

2) Choose the right trash bag

Once the bin is dry and clean, refill it with a bag suitable for its size. Often we take too small or too big but this detail is not trivial: when we put in the suitable bag, that is to say that covers the tower at the top, there is no waste that falls at the bottom and stagnate under the bag. On the contrary, if the bag is too large, you will have many folds around which will fill with junk that will macerate in the plastic. Measure the height and diameter of your bin once and for all and check the bag packaging for the one that suits you. The capacity is generally given in liters but we also find the dimensions.

3) Be careful what you throw in the trash

Some waste should never be put in the trash because they smell bad but above all, they contaminate the place where your trash is stored. That’s why they have such a strong smell. This concerns the seafood and fish (empty shells, carcasses, bones etc), the soiled diapers babies, the litter dirty cat, droppings of the dog and any other animal … The best is to immediately remove the trash that contains this waste. If you can't do it, put them in a tightly closed bag and put them in the trash can.

4) Deodorize your trash

It's very simple, sprinkle a little baking soda on the bottom of the container before placing a bag in it. This will prevent maceration odors, especially when it is hot. You can also drop some cat litter (clean!) and sprinkle the baking soda next, it will absorb all the liquids. A good tip also, pour 2 to 3 drops of essential oil of lemon or from lavender at the bottom of the bag when you put it in place, it will pleasantly scent the contents.
