BAE Systems: 10-year, £270 million contract with the Royal Navy

(CercleFinance.com) – BAE Systems announces that the British Ministry of Defense (MOD) has awarded it a 10-year, £270m contract to support the Royal Navy’s three main radar systems: the Artisan systems ; Sampson; and LRR (long range radar).

BAE Systems says all major Royal Navy ships, from Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers to Type 45 destroyers, are equipped with at least one of these three systems.

“The £270 million support contract replaces a number of existing contracts, offering better value for money and allowing greater investment in future technology development,” BAE said.

Separately, the MOD and BAE Systems are jointly investing a further £50 million to develop the next generation of radar technology the Royal Navy needs to deal with emerging threats, including ballistic missiles and drones.
