BAE Systems: $17.5 million contract with DARPA

(CercleFinance.com) – BAE Systems announced last night that the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded BAE Systems’ research and development organization FAST Labs a $17.5 million contract. dollars under the GRYPHON program (Generation RF with Photonic Oscillators for Low Noise).

This technology presented as ‘revolutionary’ could make it possible to combine low noise, compact size and frequency agility for next-generation airborne communications. This approach should improve performance while reducing system size by 25%.

“New science, thinking and techniques are enabling game-changing advances in technology,” said Chris Rappa, technology specialist at BAE Systems’ FAST Labs. ‘The GRYPHON program is an excellent example of applying new concepts, such as the integration of photonics and digital electronics, to provide a quantum leap in innovation.’
