BAE Systems: confirmation of the Hunter program in Australia

(CercleFinance.com) – BAE Systems reports that Australia’s review of its surface combatant (SCR) fleet will have ‘significant’ repercussions for BAE Systems Australia’s local operations, particularly in regarding Osborne Shipyard’s Hunter-class frigate program and its fleet sustainment facilities in Henderson.

The government has in fact confirmed the continuation of the Hunter program with the supply of six anti-submarine warfare (ASW) frigates. A construction which will be followed by that of three destroyers intended for air warfare.

The concurrent announcement of a plan for continued shipbuilding work in Western Australia through the construction of multi-role frigates will result in workforce growth in the Henderson district.

According to BAE Systems, these various operations and works will occupy the workforce of Osborne and partner companies ‘until the mid-2040s’.
